Membership comparison
How to choose between web and LINE membership
Unless LINE notices are a clear priority, consider web membership first. A first checkout for a new customer without a referral costs 0 service credits, and the store does not depend on LINE or Link-Win’s shared LINE infrastructure. Then compare registration, required notices, in-store explanation, and switching constraints.
Stores more likely to fit web membership
- ・Want to avoid the first-checkout cost for a new customer without a referral
- ・Want to operate without depending on LINE
- ・Can explain Google or email authentication (customers can also start with Passkey only)
- ・Are comfortable receiving required service notices by email
Members who register with Passkey only cannot receive email notices until they link an email address or Google account.
Stores more likely to fit LINE Easy mode
- ・Want a shorter explanation for initial registration
- ・Want required service notices delivered through LINE
- ・Can accept the conditions and suspension risk of using Link-Win’s shared LINE infrastructure
- ・Need membership, point, and reservation notices rather than bulk promotional messages
Differences in Link-Win
Service credits are the store’s balance for Link-Win checkout processing and some notices. They are separate from the store points issued to customers.
| Comparison | Web membership | LINE Easy mode |
|---|---|---|
| First checkout for a new customer without a referral | 0 service credits | 8 service credits |
| Repeat or referred-visit checkout | 0.5%, 18–98 service credits | 0.5%, 18–98 service credits |
| Entry point | A web page opened from the in-store QR | Link-Win’s LINE Official Account |
| Customer verification | Google or email authentication is recommended. Customers can also start with Passkey only | Register through LINE |
| Required service notices | LINE | |
| Store-side LINE setup | Not required and does not depend on LINE | Not required, but it uses Link-Win’s shared LINE infrastructure |
| Reservations | Creating, changing, cancelling, and email notices are free | Creating, changing, and cancelling are free. Each LINE notice enabled by the owner costs 5 service credits |
How to decide when you are unsure
- 1. Whether avoiding the first-checkout cost and LINE dependency matters
- 2. Which registration method staff can explain clearly to customers in the store
- 3. Whether required notices should be delivered by LINE or email
If LINE notices are not a clear priority, start with web membership and use the first customer pair to test registration, QR display, and the post-checkout notice. Moving from LINE to web later requires instructions for existing members and replacement of the in-store QR.
Frequently asked questions
Does the store need its own LINE Official Account?
No. Link-Win’s LINE Easy mode uses a LINE Official Account operated by Link-Win rather than an account owned by the store, so the store does not need to configure LINE. It is not used for bulk advertising or promotional broadcasts.
Does web membership require a dedicated app?
No. Customers open the web member page from the store QR and register with Google, email authentication, or a Passkey on a supported device. A member who starts with Passkey only cannot receive email notices until they later link an email address or Google account.
Can the membership method be changed later?
Link-Win provides a migration from LINE Easy mode to web membership, but existing members need instructions for web authentication and the in-store QR must be replaced. The current admin screen does not provide an option to switch from web membership back to LINE Easy mode.
